The NAWIC Education Foundation (NEF) was established in 1973 by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC).  NEF is an IRS 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, which means all donations are deductible as a charitable donation. The Board of Trustees governs the Foundation.

Since its inception, NEF has focused on construction education and offers a number of certification programs in partnership with Clemson University.   NEF is proud to be named a Quality Education Provider by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE).

In addition, the Foundation has developed several programs and competitions created to foster and promote construction as a viable career choice among students from grade school to high school level.

In March 2007, following the resignation of the Executive Director, the NEF Executive Committee made the decision to move the office to Clemson, SC where the Foundation has a partnership with Clemson University's Center for the Improvement of Construction Management and Processes.
